01Washer will not spinIf water stays in the tub, the washer isn’t draining. If the tub is empty, the lid lock, an unbalanced load, or the drive belt or coupling may be the cause.
02Dryer not heatingClean the lint screen and check the outside vent. A blocked vent often blows the thermal fuse; the heating element or gas igniter are other common causes.
03Loud vibrationLevel the washer and redistribute the load first. Banging during spin that continues points to worn suspension springs, dampers or tub bearings.
04Refrigerator not coolingNote both compartment temperatures. A dirty condenser, a failing fan or a defrost problem are common causes.
05Dishwasher not drainingClean the filter first, then check the drain hose. Standing water after that usually means a drain pump problem.
06Oven not heatingOn gas ranges a weak igniter, and on electric ranges a bake element or the temperature sensor, are the usual causes.

What should I have ready before my Maytag service visit?

Why can a Maytag washer stop before the spin cycle?
Drainage, balance, door or lid sensing and controls can prevent normal spin. Tell us whether water remains and when the cycle stops. The diagnosis determines the work rather than a guessed motor replacement.
Why is my Maytag dryer taking two or three cycles to dry?
The most common cause is airflow: a full lint screen, lint packed in the vent hose, or a crushed or clogged vent outside. Check that the vent flap outside opens when the dryer runs. If the vent is long or hasn’t been cleaned in a while, have it cleaned. If clothes are still slow to dry, a heating element, gas valve coil or thermostat may be failing.
My Maytag front-load washer smells or leaves water in the door seal. Is that a repair?
Usually not. Front-load washers need the door left open between loads, the door seal wiped out and a regular cleaning cycle. If water stays in the drum after a cycle or the washer shows a drain code, that points to a clogged drain pump filter or pump and is worth a service visit.
