When something goes wrong

GE refrigerator, washer and dryer problems.

Tell us what you are seeing. We will help determine the practical next step.

01Not cooling properlyA warm fresh-food section with a cold freezer usually points to airflow: a fan, frost on the evaporator or the defrost system. Note both temperatures.

02Washer will not spinA washer that won’t spin may still be full of water (a drain problem), sensing an unbalanced load or not locking the lid. Note where the cycle stops.

03Dryer not heatingCheck the lint screen and the outside vent first. On electric dryers, the heating element or thermal fuse; on gas dryers, the igniter or gas valve coils are common causes.

04Oven not reaching temperatureSlow or low heat usually means a weak gas igniter, a failed bake element or a sensor reading wrong. Tell us how long preheat takes.

05Dishwasher leaksNote where the water shows up: under the door, at a front corner or under the unit. Door gaskets, hoses, the pump and over-sudsing each leak differently.

06Ice maker not workingMake sure the ice maker is on and the freezer is cold. If ice still isn’t made, the water valve, fill tube or ice maker module needs testing.

GE repair FAQs

What GE appliances does Near repair?

All of them. We repair all brands, makes, and models — every GE appliance, including refrigerators & freezers, washers & dryers, ranges & ovens and dishwashers. Have your model number ready when you call (405) 534-4788 so we can plan the visit and check parts.

What should I have ready before my GE service visit?

The model and serial number, a short description of what the appliance is doing, any error code on the display and when the problem started. Here’s how to find your model number.

What should I report about a GE refrigerator that runs warm?

Provide the model, measured refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and any message. Note whether the change followed a power interruption. Fans, defrost, controls and refrigeration-system operation may need assessment.

Why is my GE dryer running but not heating?

Clean the lint screen and check that the vent to the outside isn’t crushed or clogged; a blocked vent is a common reason a thermal fuse blows. On an electric dryer, check the breaker, because a half-tripped breaker can leave the drum turning with no heat. If it still won’t heat, the element, thermal fuse or, on gas dryers, the igniter and valve coils need testing. Tell us whether it’s gas or electric when you book.

My GE washer fills and agitates but won’t spin. What’s wrong?

If water is still in the tub, the washer probably isn’t draining, often because of a clogged pump or hose. If the tub is empty but won’t spin, the lid lock, an unbalanced load or the drive system may be the cause. Redistribute the load and run a drain-and-spin cycle. If it still won’t spin, tell us the model and what you see.

Do you also repair GE Profile, Café and Monogram appliances?

Yes. GE Profile appliances are covered on this page. Café and Monogram are GE Appliances brands with their own pages: Café repair and Monogram repair.

How much does GE repair cost?

Pricing is per job, not per hour. The written estimate you get after diagnosis covers the repair we recommend for your GE appliance, and nothing is done until you say yes. Service call fee waived with completed repair.

How soon can I get an appointment?

Online booking for GE repair is open 24/7, and appointments run 7 days a week, 9 AM–6 PM. Call (405) 534-4788 or book online.

What warranty comes with a GE repair?

1 year on labor, 1 year on qualified installed parts. For more details, give us a call.
